Strategy

Strategy Decisive Ecological Warfare Strategy Goals The ultimate goal of the primary resistance movement in this scenario is simply a living planet鈥攁 planet not just living, but in recovery, growing more alive and more diverse year after year. Principles

Deep Green Resistance Statement of Principles 1. The soil, the air, the water, the climate, and the food we eat are created by complex communities of living creatures. The needs of those living communities are primary; individual and social morality must emerge from a humble relationship with the web of life. 2. Civilization, especially industrial civilization, is fundamentally destructive to life on earth. Our task is to create a life-centered resistance movement that will dismantle industrial civilization by any means necessary. Organized political resistance is the only hope for our planet. ...

FAQ

FAQ Q: Why does industrial civilization need to be dismantled? Won鈥檛 we just reach a tipping point in public opinion? Answer Q: I believe in the hundredth monkey story, in which one monkey learned a new skill, and taught it to the others until a critical mass of monkeys (say, one hundred) had learned this skill, suddenly all the monkeys knew the skill, even on other islands. If enough minds are changed, won鈥檛 civilization transform itself into something sustainable? Answer Q: You can鈥檛 force people to change. What we really need is a paradigm shift. Answer Q: I鈥檓 a fan of Daniel Quinn. He says we should just walk away. I know there is something wrong here. What do you think? Answer Q: How do I know that civilization is not redeemable? Answer Q: How can I do something to help bring down civilization and not just throw away my life in a useless act? Answer Q: Why should I take large-scale direct action against the system when almost nobody else, especially in the first world, is? Answer Q: What might distinguish an anti-civilization resistance from other popular movements that those in power have successfully overpowered COINTELPRO-style? Is there a support system in place to support someone鈥檚 family if an activist goes to prison and is the breadwinner? Answer Q: How can I accept the risks of being caught when that could mean never being able to see or help my family/lover/children in these difficult times? Answer Q: If we act effectively against those in power, won鈥檛 those in power just come down on us harder? Answer Q: What has happened to those who have tried to use violence? Fred Hampton, Laura Whitehorn , and Susan Rosenberg are just a few of the many who have tried to use force and have ended up dead, framed, or in jail. You say we all have a role; how do you feel about proposing that others do what you will not do? Answer Q: If we dismantle civilization, won鈥檛 that kill millions of people in cities? What about them? Answer Q: Civilization is the only thing keeping violent criminals from raping/killing people like in those horrible places far away. Who will protect my family if we dismantle civilization?
